With the passing of those beloved in our life and/or those who have impacted our choices it does often cause us to do an inner inspection. We may ask this question, “What legacy will my life leave?” There will be many commentators who will provide praise for Aretha Franklin’s legacy and influence that she has indented into our life – past, present, and future.
As we also meditate on what our personal journey represents, let’s continue to remember that the choices we make and made dictates the mirror reflection called “our life.” If we desire to portray a new, improved, and better portrait then we must change our choices and actively pursue that different posture. When we realize that our sole existence is to serve – God, family, others, etc. – then we can truly embrace a legacy that involves community. We exist to bless and positively seed a legacy of hope, faith, and Jesus as Believers of God’s plan for this worldwide community.
With that said, let us not get sidetracked by all of the “stuff and things” that life throws at us and that can deter us from our prime objective. We are to reflect the love of God through lifting up the Gospel of Good News that Jesus Christ redeems and provides the only avenue for eternal R.I.P.
When a person passes this life we will see many messages wishing that person a peaceful rest for eternity. Let us hope that in this earthly life regardless of all of the dynamic accolades garnered by fans, friends, and wannabees; we make that personal commitment to L.I.P. (Live in Peace through Christ as our Savior) so that yes when our time comes we can truly R.I.P.I.H. (Rest in Peace in Heaven).
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.
As we continue in our journey on this planet, let us immerse ourselves in the music of this mighty anointed voice that donned our presence for a short time…and while we reflect on her legacy make sure to choose a path that does lead you to a life of peace here on this Earth as it is in Heaven. Time to make a change, reflect a new choice, time to mirror God’s love in and through you so all can experience His Good News Gospel. Life is to be lived as an enrichment for an entire worldwide community not as a selfish plunder and waste without a heritage worth singing about when our eyes shut on this planet and open in another realm to reside eternally.
