Keep pressing even in pain

I would imagine before a big divisional championship game most athletes of faith would lean into God and ask Him for favor and strength to overcome any obstacle. I can especially surmise that Patrick and the rest of the Chief’s crew were fervently seeking God’s assistance to endure; especially since several of them including Patrick were suffering injuries.

Maybe they prayed Psalms 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Truly in times of stress and dire need; this is a great go to prayer for safety, protection, relief, and assurance that our God is our helper. God always watches over us and never forsakes us!

Two weeks before the Superbowl so this Sunday 1.28.23 were the AFC and NFC Championship games. First, was Eagles versus 49ers and this was a blowout due to the 49ers were hampered by injured quarterbacks (basically no quarterbacks) that were healthy to help them in this game, so it was a lop sided win. Congratulations to the Philly fans and I am looking forward to meeting you with my team who won their division today. The Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes with the rest of the team played with purpose even when their star Quarterback played visibly in pain due to an ankle injury. Towards the end of the game he was down and out needing a big play to get KC down the field in hopes of positioning the kicker to make a field goal. Patrick who had not been as mobile as he normally would be in a game due to his painful ankle injury decided to run on that soar ankle. He did and unfortunately the defensive player for the Bengal’s made an unfortunate error giving us more yardage by hitting Patrick once he was out of bounds. Hence, Kansas City was in field goal range with seconds left on the clock in the 4th quarter. What happened was as you expect the field goal we needed to break the tie. We won the game! What is so remarkable is for the previous last 3 games KC and the Bengal’s met we loss every time to them with virtually a 3 point difference. This game was a nail biter and several times Patrick showed how tender his ankle was due to him gingerly walking on the field and not throwing at the top of his game. But, regardless of his pain, he pursued with sheer grit and determination because it was an all or nothing outcome that a must win needed to happen so that Kansas City could continue and get back to the Superbowl.

Hence, what I think is appropriate title and thought for today is not to get weary or give up when well doing because if you don’t faint or back down EVEN in Pain you will reap! And yes, Patrick and the Chiefs prevailed today to get back into the Superbowl.

We can use their determination again all odds to dig in deep when on a mission and just keep focus to complete the tasks. There will most likely be tremendous challenges and may even be some discomfort and pain, but if you and I continue in the fight and don’t relent with the pursuit – God’s promise is we do reap if we faint not. Amen Indeed!

Patrick and his team laid it all out there on the field even when there were several haters that discounted them out and said they would not win. Sometimes in our fight it is a comfort to know we are not alone. Remember just like in a football game it is a team sport and with our own personal life journey if we continue to seek God he is the best team player to help us get through until the end.

Congratulations to both teams who are in the upcoming Superbowl game this upcoming February 12, 2023. It is also going to be a historic game during Black History Month as this is the 1st time 2 black quarterbacks will be leading their perspective teams in an head to head Superbowl match. I am sure in the history of the Superbowl this has been a long time coming and now in 57 years we see another break through when it comes to inclusion and diversity.

A scripture worth meditating upon daily is found in Galatians Chapter 6:7-10 The Message Version: (See Below)

7-8 Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

9-10 So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.

The lessons learned is that in order to get to the sweet spot that being the joy of victory, sometimes the pain in the pursuit must be endured and overcome. Continue to ask God to help you for the strength to continue when going through a tough fight. You will and can make it if you just hang on a little while longer. Trust your team players (God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit) to have your back and be there to help you make it to the end zone of VICTORY!

Peace and blessings to all!

Love,

Miriam aka Essence of Myrrh Proverbs 3:5-7 & 8

P.S.

As I continue to press forward on my new journey and a new perspective for 2023: Mental Health & Wellness Matters, I know I have to not get weary while in pursuit of well-doing so that I will reap if I faint not. By refocusing on health and wellness, mental enhancement, and spiritual fortitude – I want to reach something different in my life where I can see freedom exuding from every pour of my existence. Freedom to flourish is my aim.

I think about how the first step of my personal freedom was an acceptance that with Christ as my redeemer I can do all things and be all things and overcome all things as He did.He who the Son sets free is free indeed!

John 8:34-38 The Message Version

34-38 Jesus said, “I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave can’t come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through. I know you are Abraham’s descendants. But I also know that you are trying to kill me because my message hasn’t yet penetrated your thick skulls. I’m talking about things I have seen while keeping company with the Father, and you just go on doing what you have heard from your father.”

If you don’t know about Christ or why I subscribe to faith in Christ as my Lord and Savior then I will extend the offer for you to get to know Him for yourself. It is your choice. You will answer one way or the other for the choice you make here on earth – as we all will. So, the following information provides just a few suggestions, scriptures, and a prayer to help you move into a closer realm of understanding of what Christ is all about and can be about for you.
