TRUST = Totally Reliant Unwavering Steadfastness Truth!
When Jesus informed the Disciples to get in the boat because they were going to the other side, why did they doubt His word? TRUST means to believe wholeheartedly without wavering in that belief. The disciples had been with Jesus all day watching Him perform miracles, so when He decided to just take a rest from a long day of work; his crew that had been around Him all day long should have let Him rest. What they did was take their eyes off of Jesus who was calm, peaceful, and resting during the environmental chaos and directly focus on the storm around them. When they directed their attention on the waves and wind that was rocking their boat; they became fearful that they would not cross over to the other side safely. They were more concerned about the waves splashing into the boat and the strong winds causing their boat to bounce up and down on the waters. When they got so full of fear they anxiously called out to Jesus crying out for their lives. Jesus had to be disturbed from his resting place by these faithless people to speak again another word of truth so they could see with their natural eyes another miracle. He commanded the storm to be still and calmed the environment.
Once he calmed the waters and wind, He asked why are you full of fear. Why don’t you believe me when I said we would get in the boat and go to the other side? This is the same question He ask us today; when we come to Him in prayer and He provides His word of truth. He promises that you will cross over and get through all that you are currently experiencing. He wants to know why do you (we) doubt His word? Let us be diligent to remain at peace while in the midst of the chaos around us. Let us fight to not yield to fear but remain peaceful and in rest. Let our eyes not be diverted by any distraction that is contrary to the word that God speaks into our lives. Let us be strong, steadfast, unmovable and always abounding in the word of the Lord and just TRUST God!

35When that evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us cross to the other side.” 36After they had dismissed the crowd, they took Jesus with them, since He was already in the boat. And there were other boats with Him.
37Soon a violent windstorm came up, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was being swamped. 38But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?”
39Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded. “Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.
40“Why are you so afraid?” He asked. “Do you still have no faith?”
41Overwhelmed with fear, they asked one another, “Who is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
Therefore, don’t rely on our own wisdom or ideas on the matter; just dig deep into God’s word on the matter and let God guide us through every storm of our life so we can cross over to the other side. Our very own promised land.
Proverbs 3:5-12 The Message Version
5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over.
But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;
don’t sulk under his loving correction.
It’s the child he loves that God corrects;
a father’s delight is behind all this.
