The Thankful Revolution Potpourri

HEY LET US ALL TAKE A MOMENT TO STOP AND PURPOSELY TAKE THE TIME TO SMELL THE BEAUTIFUL PERFUME THAT A WORLDWIDE EXPLOSION OF THANKSGIVING INFUSES INTO THE ATMOSPHERE….

THAT SMELLS SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! Psalms 45:8
All thy garments [smell] of myrrh, and aloes, [and] cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

Potpourri is a mix bag of items; hence this will be a section to share randomness.  Just because it may seem arbitrary does not mean it’s not purposeful. Let the sharing begin…

Thought – would not it be nice if the combination of our shared ideas, efforts, actions, and messages results in a glorious aromatic fragrance that brings a much needed change in our environment.  Dispelling the stench of putridness to usher in sweetness is the end result.  AHHHH can you inhale and take a whiff of this desired scent?  I like to immerse myself in this type of air conditioner that continues to seep into every crevice of my space.  What about you?  Does this sound and smell like something you would enjoy too?  Well, come and see (or better yet smell) – come smell what is being dispensed into the atmosphere spreading The Thankful Revolution’s collaborative essence of Myrrhism – The BitterSweet aroma. To be adorned in a fragrance that is welcomed this is the aspiration for why we do what we do. Let us continue to seek out ways to bring gladness across our planet.  We all can provide this perfumed aroma into the composition of our activities that inevitably enhances every life touched.  Thank you again for engaging in this journey we call life and that life MORE Abundantly.  This includes The Thankful Revolution Potpourri.

17 Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2

9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    Creating the Tabernacle
    Sunday, October 17, 2021 | Exodus 39:32–43
On the Go? Listen to Today’s Devotional
Does God value creativity and art? Today’s reading clearly shows that He does! Led by Moses, the Israelites’ most talented artisans did their very best creative work to honor God with the building of the tabernacle. While our imagination can be used for sinful purposes, as the people displayed when they created a golden calf idol, it can also be used for righteous purposes, as was done here.

Among his other leadership gifts, Moses was a skilled administrator who learned from his father-in-law (Exodus 18). The tabernacle project, however, required a different skill set. For the construction of Israel’s national worship center, God gave specific directions and specially gifted two men, Bezalel and Oholiab, with the artistic skills needed to lead the work (Ex. 35:30–36:7). Moses, Aaron, the priests, and Levites supervised the work in general, but these two artists and their team handled turning God’s instructions into physical reality.

Quite a few forms of art were involved: The artists and craftspeople sewed the priestly garments, including pieces that held precious jewels, one for each tribe. They built the altar of burnt offering, the altar of incense, the basin for washing, the lampstand, the table for the showbread, all the curtains, and of course the Ark of the Covenant.

Moses inspected the completed items in today’s reading. The key here is the people’s total obedience: “The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses” (vv. 32, 42, 43). Our impressions of the Israelites might be negative, but they did have bright moments of faith and obedience as well. Many scholars see in verse 32 an echo of Genesis 2:1. The basic idea is that the events of Exodus represent a new beginning in God’s plan to redeem creation.

    >> Your artistic skills can be used by God! Think today about the ways you can use your skills in writing, painting, drawing, cooking, or singing. How can you honor Him with these gifts?

    PRAY WITH US
Today we pray for the creative and artistic people in Your church. Raise up leaders who will affirm their talents and help them use their gifts to worship You and build up the body of Christ.

20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
