In this time of my life’s journey I am learning about my new name called PREVAIL. What does this mean? I find in Christ Jesus I can do all things. So, really I am learning how to trust God. I am not saying I have accomplished this faith at 100% during this time of my life, I am saying I know God has given me a new name and that name in this time of my life is called PREVAIL.
What does it mean to prevail?
I rely on your word and promise truth for my life to help me walk in my new name calling me to PREVAIL.
Personally, I am learning that in “all things” to trust God. I am learning that if I truly seek God for “every aspect” of my life – basically just to exist, to breathe, to do any & everything, I will continue and prevail. God says, He never leaves nor forsakes me. God says, He never seen the righteous forsaken nor their seed begging for bread. God says that I can do “all things” through Christ who strengthens me. God says if I seek him 1st – HIS KINGDOM – His word of truth (from the Bible scriptures) – His ways…If I just truly rely on Him according to my favorite scripture Proverbs 3:5-8 – then “ALL THINGS” will be added unto me.
This way of living that I am learning more and more each day is the reality that life continues even when stuff shuts down – my existence has to be secure in God’s word. This walk of Faith is no joke. I am not saying it’s easy and not without challenges, I am just saying I rely totally on God – that is all I have and all I can do and truly in my heart all I desire to do because when I veer away from that direction and motivation then I falter and get stuck in a rut. I may have thought my life was going to turn out one way and THEN “THAT HAPPENS”. So, you say what is that? That happens is whatever throws a wrench in your program, the unexpected challenge, that can create an upheaval and undoing. When life’s roadblocks, failures, and out of the ordinary situations hit you in your face; GRACE (Jesus is GRACE) becomes your (our) friend that sticks closer than a brother. This next level living requires us to dig deep into the word of truth and trust God that our new name is called prevail. I am called prevail in prayer. I am called prevail in trusting. I am called prevail in obtaining God’s best (His promise) hope for my life. I am just called prevail (regardless of the circumstance). I am called prevail to be grateful and give God glory!
Content Whatever the Circumstances – Philippians 4:11-14 The Message Version
10-14 I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. I don’t mean that your help didn’t mean a lot to me—it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles.
Reality of Walk the Walk that I Talk is Rough but Necessary: I am being instructed by God daily that I can do “all things” through Christ who strengthens me. And that God’s joy is my strength. I also am learning that God can and does give me a peace that surpasses my understanding of a situation. I have learned in this new year of my life (May 4th birthday) that what I thought was going to be my life really got thrown a curve ball and my life (the life I desire – to have life and that life MORE Abundantly – is found in a different manner and deeper dimension). This life is ONLY in and through Christ who is my redeemer, deliverer, healer, savior, and everything.
Prayer: Father my father I seek you constantly for what to do and how to do it. I trust you because that is what I have – trust. I rely on you to provide. I ask for your wisdom on how to get through my days, one second at a time. When I am lost, I need you to help me find my way. I ask for your knowledge, guidance, and instructions. Even further your motivation and muscle to move into that which you answer me to do through your word. I need you desperately and will always need you desperately whether in plenty or in lack – I just need you to breathe and exist.
Thank you for providing encouragement and provisions and saying that I am blessed by you. I trust that truth to be so for you have constantly provided for me and my house daily. Thank you Holy Spirit resident for counseling me through – speaking to my mind and cleansing my heart with Bible truth. I can not rely on my mind’s opinion or any other person’s thoughts when I am in this time of challenge. I walk with you my Father, my Shepherd, my redeemer, my healer, my lawyer, my everything.
I just trust you and thank you that in all things….yes in all things I prevail because Christ prevailed. Thank you Father that your Kingdom come and live in and through me on this planet as it is reflected in Heaven.
I know that your word protects me and keeps me and my house while we go through whatever situation/challenge so I trust you and your word that NOTHING/NO Weapon will prevail because Christ has already prevailed on my behalf. Selah (Amen Indeed)
It is interesting that today 5.26.24 is Memorial Day Weekend and as we remember those who have fought a good fight for our liberty, I continue to reflect that although warfare / chaos / challenges / and battles are something I go through – I am not alone and I am not defeated! Christ is the conqueror and liberator. So, I prevail as a victor – regardless of the present situation – I prevail to the promise that if God is for me who or what can be against me?
I am learning that this new name called Prevail comes with a purpose, promise, and provision. I thought about the story where Jacob decided and declared that he would not let go of the Lord until he got his blessing. In this scripture it mentions how the Lord said look it’s going to be morning soon, so let go of me. BUT Jacob insisted even with his breath straining, “I will not let go until you bless me!”
So, I see from this message where I too will not let go of faith and holding onto God with all my might – whatever inner fortitude I fight with – I will hold on even straining and declare – I will not let go until you bless me!
So for Jacob, in that moment of pure grit, faith, and determination- it resulted in a new name, new posture (may had a limp but a limp with a purpose and promise), and a new outcome. God in fact blessed Jacob in this message and I too welcome God’s blessing regardless of the struggle.
I am now called and known with a new name – PREVAILwith a purpose, posture, and promise. It is funny in that story, Jacob was never scared but fearless and stubborn with his effort to succeed even if the battle was ongoing for hours, he did not quit but he transcended into the realm of victory and a dimension where he too got a new name called PREVAIL (literally God gave him a new name – Israel).
So, I continue to hold firm to God and know my new name PREVAIL comes with a shifting into that realm (open door season) where I walk into Life and THAT LIFE MORE Abundantly!
This message about Jacob and God wrestling spoke to me about life and the journey I have often walked in and through. I think I may have more to share later about how God’s word resonates with me during this particular time of my life and season that I am currently facing. A few points I think are interesting:
Jacob was about to face his brother who he had deceived previously, so he was anxious and didn’t know what to expect. He didn’t know if it was going to be a friendly encounter or one met with a fight so he wanted to make sure his household was going to be safe. Thus he made sure to send his wives away.
Jacob was alone. I think how many times we “about to or actually facing” situations that are difficult and we are alone. Or so we think we alone and then we have an encounter with God. Right before the breaking of day (in our solitude often it’s dark or during a literal night time we are in turmoil -wrestling and stressed out in a battle) so we are in a fight for our lives. Literally, some of us are going back and forth with are we going to stick in this situation and fight it out or just give up and die?
Jacob found out what he was made of during this battle – he may not been the strongest person going in this challenging situation but somehow he had an inner strength and grit to not give up and let go of what he thought he was owed. He believed he should be blessed. I guess he was desperate because he had nothing else to lose. So, he just hung on even in pain and agony and stress and in a dilemma where he may not come out as the victor.
Jacob got what he fought for because of his not giving up attitude even when challenged to just give up and then with another blow that hurt him physically in his hip – in pain he still held onto God.
God asked a question what is your name? We normally answer who we thought we were (all of our past failures and mess ups) this is how Jacob answered God instead of how God sees us and names us. We are created in God’s image and God calls us blessed. So, at that moment God blessed Jacob with a new name and called him Israel. Israel where he wrestled with God and humanity and PREVAILED.
There is a testimony from the struggle and fight we endure. Even today, there is a monument and memorial that reflects Jacob’s battle to be blessed (literally) and reminds us how liberation came with a fight for freedom.
So, for me, I am realizing that although I may have a past where I made decisions that caused some mistakes, failures, or fractures; I am not known by that name in the sight of God. I am called by the name He blesses me with that being Prevail to a new posture, Prevail in his promise, Prevail through his provisions. I am blessed and highly favored (even if I limp out of my battle) I prevail!
Genesis 32:22-32 The Voice Version (Jacob – and now my story – of how I get a new blessed named and PREVAIL)
22 Later that same night, Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his 11 children; and he crossed the Jabbok River. 23 He sent them all ahead across the stream along with everything he had; 24 but Jacob stayed behind, left alone in his distress and doubt. In the twilight of his anguish, an unknown man wrestled with him until daybreak. 25 When the man saw he was not winning the battle with Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was thrown out of joint as he continued to wrestle with him.
Man: 26 Let me go; the dawn is breaking.
Jacob: I will not let you go unless you bless me.
Man: 27 What’s your name?
Jacob: Jacob.
Man: 28 You will no longer go by the name Jacob. From now on, your name will be Israel because you have wrestled with God and humanity, and you have prevailed.
Jacob: 29 Please, tell me your name.
Man: Why do you ask what my name is?
Right then and right there the man blessed Jacob. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel because as he said, “I have come face to face with God, and yet my life was spared.” 31 The sun began to rise as Jacob passed by Penuel, limping because of his dislocated hip. 32 And to this day, the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached near the hip socket of any animal, since that is where God struck Jacob when He dislocated his hip.
Okay, well I look forward to learning about your overcoming a challenge where you too prevail. This message aligns with my life’s theme that being we receive a N.O.W. moment (New-Beginnings is our witness) after experiencing C.P.R. (Crisis, pivot, and rebirth).
I pray you all realize you have the strength to make it through and out of whatever and when “That Happens” moment occurs in your life. Don’t give up even when weary, weeping, or just plain worn out. You can and will make it “if” you hold on just one more second, one more minute, one more hour, one more day…just one more breath – you can make it and will prevail. Love to you all ~ Miriam aka Essence of Myrrh / Blessed & Prevail. Proverbs 3:5-8
What isC.P.R. + N.O.W.mean to me and anyone who reviews this message?I think humanity is at a code blue status and is about to flatline into a death crisis if we do not pivot so, we need to have a recussitation stat or we will cease to exists!
Isn’t it time for you, me, all of us to live our best lives! Let’s shift it into gear for next-level living where we are actually obtaining the “hoped for good” in our lives. Time for us to achieve the bucket list of goals we once thought were so far off and removed from our grasps. We can and will do this one step at a time, one dream realized at a time, one conversation at a time can spark the fire needed to fuel our promise fulfillment! Amen INDEED!
Let the conversations ensue and the shifting manifest into a tangible reality for our next-level transformation into what we were born to do – live life and that life MORE Abundant here on earth as it is in heaven.

John 10:10 The Message Version
6-10 Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about. So he tried again. “I’ll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep rustlers, every one of them. But the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
