Opening Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with gratitude for the gift of life, for Your love that surrounds us, and for the purpose You have placed within each of us. As we read these words today, may Your Spirit guide us, open our hearts, and ignite the light within us. Let us be salt and light in this world, reflecting Your love and grace in all we do. Bless our journey of transformation, and empower us to bring healing, hope, and purpose to ourselves and those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Message:
We are all called to be salt and light in this world—two essential elements that bring both preservation and illumination. As we navigate through life, this calling is more relevant now than ever before. The Message Version of Matthew 5:13-16 says:
“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
God calls us to shine and to bring flavor to this world. We are not meant to hide, to shrink, or to diminish our purpose. Instead, we are to rise, to shine, and to boldly carry out the work we are called to do. As salt, we bring value, adding flavor and preservation to every space we enter. As light, we dispel darkness, shift mindsets, and bring clarity to those in need of hope and direction.

In this moment of uncertainty and need, I come before You with a heart full of trust and dependence. Your Word assures me that You are my Provider, my Protector, and my Guide. I declare Your promises over my life:
